Transport Manager
Based: Leigh/Wigan area
Salary: highly dependent on experience. Hours: 7am-4pm, Monday-Friday
Our client is an excellent, growing, owner-managed company based in the Leigh area. A family ran business established over 20 years ago, they have a number of company subsidiaries within the group and to support their continued growth are looking for a hands-on Transport Manager to join them, in charge of managing the existing fleet and supporting their growth with further vehicles in the future.
Role:
- Full management of a fleet of approx.. 50 (company vans and cars) which will increase due to business growth
- Dealing with all vehicle related activity including - insurance, monthly vehicle checks, MOT, maintenance, servicing etc.
- Accident and incident management reporting including thorough investigation
- Accountable for maintaining high standard of vehicle compliance, presentation, security and cleanliness
- Commercial awareness - ensuring transport operates within budget, reducing cost where possible and supporting business growth
- Dealing with breakdowns, call outs, accidents, issues on the road and customer/driver complaints if they arise
- Liaising with drivers each morning so they are aware of day plan, managing their hours ensuring they comply with hours worked and tachograph regulations
- Managing day to day transport operation for the business, ensuring legal compliance and company standard adhered to
- Proactive approach to risk management and adhering to health & safety regulations
- Responsible for highlighting any escalated issues immediately to the Managing Director
Experience:
- CPC qualification is ESSENTIAL
- Experience in a Transport role managing the above is ESSENTIAL
- Able to multi-task and speak to drivers confidently
- Able to speak directly to Director level and report anything needed
- Flexibility - to assist when required
- Team player, computer literate and well presented
