HEAD OF SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT

LOCATION:  Manchester, North West                                                             

SALARY: 6 figure package including excellent Salary + Bonus + Car Allowance + Flexible Benefits Package

Reporting to the VP for Operations, this role and remit is aligned to the future vision and you will join a multi-disciplinary senior management team, supporting the development of the next generation products through a period of organisational change.  As an Agent of Change, you will enable an effective end to end supply chain and logistics service, developing and executing the Supply-Chain strategy to ensure optimal profitability, best practice/operational excellence and maximum customer satisfaction. 

The Role:

  • Lead and manage the Demand and Sales Order Management functions (Commercial & Technical), Material/Production Planning, Warehousing (Inbound/Outbound Logistics) and the Operational Procurement teams within a matrix organisation which operates in line with the centralised Group Procurement strategy and policies
  • Drive Supply Chain improvements whilst balancing business capability to meet Demand Plans and serve both developing and mature markets, aligned with inventory targets
  • Responsible for the overall development of the SCM function you will structure, develop and manage the teams to deliver and manage an end to end Supply Chain and Logistics system whilst supporting the strategic development of EMEA supply chain networks
  • Providing support to the Operational Management/Leadership team you will manage the indirect expenditure allocated to the SCM cost centres
  • Formulation of new customer service strategies to drive continuous improvement and aligning the ERP/SAP systems, you will lead the implementation of best inventory profiling tools
  • Devising procurement initiatives you will negotiate commercial terms with suppliers in order to drive costs down year on year in line with operational excellence strategies

The Person:

  • High achiever academically within a Management, Engineering (Mechanical or Electronic) discipline, with associated professional qualifications such as CIPS or ILM
  • Proven leadership experience, managing an end to end Supply Chain function, in a matrix organisation, ideally within a demanding high volume Manufacturing, Distribution or B2B organisation
  • Having solid management experience with strong problem solving skills, you will be able to lead cross functional resources towards common goals
  • Having a wealth of experience in Customer and Supplier management, you will have a deep understanding of cultural differences and extensive experience of conducting business on a global level
  • A tenacious character who challenges the ‘status quo’ and can manage upwards as well as downwards, you will  continuously strive for improvements in ways of working, processes and approaches to customer service strategies, best practice inventory profiling delivering a more effective logistics model
  • Having proven experience in devising and executing cost down initiatives, you will be commercially astute and introduce procurement strategies with global suppliers
  • An Agent of Change, you will create a culture of excellence, possess well-honed influencing skills, with the ability to devise and deliver business process improvements, recommending effective solutions to enhance Customer Service whilst reducing costs across the supply chain
  • You will be a creative and innovative leader with excellent communication and information sharing skills upholding the values of collaboration and delivering to the customer
  • A decision maker with an analytical, strategic, project management mind-set possessing a positive, engaging and charismatic, driven personality and robust character
  • Adopting a right first time mentality, you will uphold the values of world class methodologies, embrace lean and ultimately enjoy promoting a team based culture where people are happy and engaged
  • Having a true customer focus, you must have excellent presentation skills, learning agility; have the ability to accept responsibility, ensure quality, and truly understand the importance of being a leader
