About the role

Are your great leadership skills making the right connection?

Join Royal Mail and play a key part in connecting millions of customers and communities.

As an Operations Manager at Royal Mail, you will encompass and role model Royal Mail’s values in everything you do; 'Be Brilliant, Be Positive, Be Part of it'. You will ensure that the circa 13 Delivery Offices within your remit are running as effectively and efficiently as possible. These offices may be a mixture of multi-managed or single manager lead units. You will utilise your existing multi-site management experience to drive operational efficiency and contribute to the delivery of mail to over 29 million addresses in the UK.

Reporting to the Delivery Leader, you’ll develop high performing engaged teams, through brilliant coaching and inspiring leadership. Owning the delivery of your operational objectives you will champion and deliver performance interventions as needed. With proven data analysis skills, you will have full accountability for managing physical assets and financial budget.

You’ll create a customer focused culture where your Delivery teams are empowered and supported to have total accountability for their areas, and trusted to deliver both performance and compliance. We aim to put customers first and deliver on our promises, every time.

Transformational change is key. By working closely alongside trade union representatives, you’ll ensure your team understand the commercial and competitive market we are in, whilst creating an environment that inspires people to think logically using data and facts, generating solutions to be part of improving existing conditions and processes.

The safety and wellbeing of our people is paramount and you will drive a culture where encouragement and support is prominent; promoting the right behaviours and making sure that people take this seriously. Our people look after each other, and you will be at the forefront of cultivating this network of support.

Your experience might be within retail, FMCG or logistics but your ability to motivate, inspire and lead, with a successful commercial track record of leading and developing high performing engaged teams, is what we’re looking for. You will have a track record of success through engaging your people to do the right thing, and it’s essential that you’re passionate about delivering results

This is your opportunity to be at the heart of our business, make a real impact and be part of inspiring a culture aligned with our strategy.

What are we looking for?

  • Experience in a customer focused environment, leading change as customer needs develop
