With over 100 years' industry experience in various manufactured products for industrial and commercial clients worldwide my client near Halifax is looking for a Purchasing Assistant to join the team.

Reporting to the Procurement Manager you will assist in providing purchasing and administration support to the department.

Key Accountabilities

  • Placing of non-stock purchase orders from requisitions.
  • Placing orders online using various business accounts ie: Amazon, RS and Farnell
  • Credit Card Purchases of services and equipment
  • Collation and audit of financial records with Credit Card spend for submission monthly
  • Maintain purchase order book, pricing/contract files within Company computer system.
  • Contacting suppliers to inquire and expedite purchase orders, including Far East suppliers.
  • Update and have input into monthly Purchasing Report.
  • Assist with Inventory control items and re-order levels.
  • Ensure routine purchasing tasks are carried out daily/weekly in methodical manner.
  • Liaise with warehouse and production on a regular basis on stock orders and availability
  • Resolve any invoice queries including Proforma invoices.
  • Provide support on departmental projects and initiatives.
  • Assist in sending quotations to suppliers for bench marking and Cost reduction exercise.
  • Price analysis of above and show results and conclusions.
  • Assist in environmental recording and audits with QA Manager on purchases made.
  • Take responsibility for Packaging commodity
  • Challenge pricing and supply related issues where appropriate.
  • Become integral part of purchasing team.

The position is responsible for: Efficient and timely processing of all requisitions and stock orders within agreed time frames. Updating all data relating to stock items, orders and pricing, in line with procurement framework to ensure accuracy is maintained.

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:

- Have basic understanding of Procurement process

- Relevant IT skills (MS Office, Strong Excel skills including use of V-lookup and formulas)

- Strong analytical and problem solving skills

- Microsoft Excel Intermediate/Advanced including use of V-lookup and formulas

- Microsoft Work and PowerPoint basic skills

- Knowledge of Purchase order process flow

- Knowledge of Import/Export procedure

- Knowledge of Purchasing and Supply Chain processes
