An exciting job opportunity for an Operations Development Manager role is available in Stoke on Trent for a proven leader to support the growth of a leading 3PL site. The chosen candidate will support both client relationship as well as the strategy to develop the efficiency of the onsite business.

The client is a leading third party Logistics (3PL) and supply chain solutions provider in the UK and Ireland. As the largest British logistics company they work in many industry sectors whilst adding value through our supply chain expertise and innovative approach to logistics challenges.

Description

  • This is a senior appointment reporting to the General Manager of the site
  • Providing strategic and tactical leadership, taking accountability for the overall planning activity and development of the site both short term and supporting the customers longer term strategic plans (2-5 years)
  • Client management - support an environment where the client and 3pl can work effectively on delivering strategic plans and operation developments that drive the agreed financial benefits and customer proposition.
  • Lead strategic development solutions to support client and in-house strategies for the DCs through equipment specification, material flow, process design and site layout
  • Translate the strategic business plans into well-defined operational plans, leadership and transitioning the business from the project mode to an ongoing steady state operations mode
  • Taking full ownership of operations projects budget from drafting CAPEX requests to managing CAPEX spend and reconciliation.
  • Developing and supporting a cross functional culture of continuous improvement, identifying opportunities that should be adopted as site and as contract activities.
  • Governance - ensure a consistent and structured approach to development and projects is used across the site and contract
  • Identifying new and maintaining existing value-added services to Contract.
  • Lead and chair client operational service reviews, project and CI reviews.
  • Ensuring effective communication throughout the operation; engaging with the management team and creating a culture of involved change
  • Lead, develop and inspire direct reports to ensure that the team is performance focused and engaged, so that business goals can be achieved whilst maximising individual's potential
  • Support the strategic management of third parties, in particular engineering contractors with a view to driving efficiency's and improved service levels
  • Assist contract accounts team in the formulation and management of budget.
  • Support and mentor Wincanton graduates / penultimate year students in a Development and CI capacity

Profile

  • Ability to demonstrate experience of Logistics
  • Project management experience is desirable but non-essential
  • Understanding of Process Flow solutions
  • Highly autonomous in your approach with a positive 'can-do' attitude
  • Ability to evaluate processes and understand where automation can improve efficiency within a distribution set up
  • Analytical with the ability to align development plans to short and longer term objectives
  • You will have experience of working closely with clients and developing effective working relationships
  • You should have excellent inter personal skills be able to communicate at all levels professionally and discreetly
  • You must have a proven track record of developing, guiding and engaging a team to deliver exceptional levels of customer service
  • You must have the energy, determination and commitment to operate in an environment where regular customer contact and scrutiny is the norm and effective customer communication is essential
  • Experience of being responsible for managing change projects & process improvements would be desirable
  • Organised and professional with strong written and verbal communication skills

Job Offer

The role based in Stoke On Trent offers a competitive salary of between £50,000 and £59,000 as well as a company car of around £6,000 and benefits.
