Reporting to the Finance Director

Working 37 hours per week over 4.5 days

Job Summary

Working as a buyer procuring a mix of mechanical and electrical components and equipment across approximately 100 suppliers and circa 3000 products, whilst managing the operational aspects of the wider role from forecasting products required to controlling deliveries. Effectively plan customer requirements to achieve expected delivery dates, maximising manufacturing efficiency.

Candidate Specification:-

  • Experience within a similar role is essential

  • Proven experience of manufacturing/production planning

  • Experience of MRP Systems

  • Excellent negotiation skills

  • Experience within an SME business preferred

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work without supervision at all times

  • High levels of attention to detail

  • Good computer skills

Responsibilities:-

  • Review and manage work instructions, prioritise and allocate work to assembly and machine shop

  • Raise Works Instructions for sub-assemblies on sales orders

  • Raise Works Instructions to build for stock

  • Manage Works Instructions and monitor progress through production

  • Work closely with production to balance workload and maximise efficiency and effectiveness

  • Identify stock needs, interpret history and predict future usage

  • Continual maintenance of data for stock items, including prices, minimum order quantities, lead-times, descriptions, product data sheets, product information sheets and general product information.

  • Production liaison with workshop

  • Raise Purchase Orders for purchases

  • Ensure purchased products are delivered on time

  • Negotiating with suppliers to ensure best-value is achieved

  • Match Purchase Order/Goods Receipt Note/Purchase Invoice

  • Resolve queries with suppliers

  • Raise and manager supplier non-conformance reports, such as poor product quality or delivery delays

  • Find solutions to budget limitations, supplier errors and other problems as they arise

  • Daily/Weekly planning meeting with sales and production

  • Stock reporting - reconciliations and forecasts

  • Maintain existing supplier relationships and identify new suppliers

  • Drive down material costs by agree %

  • Supplier approval and accreditation

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

  • Other general duties as required
