Materials Management Operative

We currently have a full-time position for a Materials Management Operative to join our global client in Hoddesdon. The position is to support and facilitate the work of Process Chemistry in the pilot plant and laboratories. The position is initially a 6 month temporary contract role offering a salary of £21,000 pro rata and the working hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 4:30pm.

Job details

Materials and Inventory Management

  • Fulfil material, equipment and stock requests for production and laboratory areas.
  • Ensure that satellite stock rooms are replenished.
  • Ensure that all deliveries are received on to site in an appropriate manner, including hazardous, temperature critical or GMP materials.
  • Deliver received items to the order originator / storage location.
  • Communicate with all internal customers to ensure that requirements are met.
  • General goods in / warehouse / despatch duties including loading / unloading of vehicles.
  • Provide general administration duties in support of Materials Management.

Laboratory / Pilot Plant Support

  • Clean laboratory glassware according to site procedures.
  • Refill of laboratory solvent wash bottles.
  • Ensure a high standard of cleanliness of areas and report any cleaning needs to the Materials Management Team Leader.
  • Collect dirty lab coats and replenish with clean ones.
  • Collect purified water samples and conduct sanitisation of water points.
  • Clean production rooms and equipment.

Waste Management

  • Collect and process site hazardous and non-hazardous waste in a compliant and safe manner.

Housekeeping

  • Maintain areas and equipment in a clean and safe environment according to company and appropriate standards.
  • Perform 5S / Kaizen activities to enhance working areas and productivity.
  • Ensure that all of the department’s plant and equipment is maintained and that any discrepancies are reported to the Materials Management Team Leader immediately.

Additional

  • Comply with all company and regulatory procedures, policies and standards and maintain own training file.
  • Follow all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements that are defined on work instructions or communicated in training.
  • Report all near misses, incidents and accidents.
  • Cross-train in all of the departments various areas of expertise and carry out all tasks as requested by the Materials Management Team Leader.
  • In addition to the above tasks, other activities and responsibilities may be individually defined.

Qualifications

  • PASMA
  • ADR Dangerous Goods by Road
  • IATA Dangerous Goods by Air
  • IMDG Dangerous Goods by Sea

Experience

  • Previous experience within the pharmaceutical industry and of GMP
  • Chemical safety
  • Prior work cleaning/handling fragile materials
  • Prior experience in the disposal of hazardous wastes
  • Fork lift truck
