Hays Supply Chain & Logistics are pleased to be exclusively representing Smythson of Bond Street for the recruitment of a Head of Logistics to be based out of their Swindon distribution centre. Rooted in deep heritage, Smythson represents over 130 years of British luxury leather goods at their most refined, with an enduring dedication to unrivalled craftsmanship. They are theholders of three Royal Warrants, having been granted a Royal Warrant from Her Majesty The Queen in 1964, HRH The Prince of Wales in 1980, and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh in 2002. This newly created position is the result of a new 5-year growth strategy being implement by their recently appoint CEO and offers the chance to join a prestigious company at an exciting time.

Your new role

As the Head of Logistics you will report directly to the CEO and will be an 'expert' in global logistics and distribution, writing the roadmap for a global distribution strategy. You will introduce international distribution hubs to meet the needs of the business as part of the 5-year business plan. You will drive organisational change for continuous improvement, ensuring systems and processes are in place to meet the needs of the business and support growth and expansion. Setting, managing and measuring the key performance indicators aligned to the overall strategic direction of the business will be key to keeping the business operating at its peak. You will lead the operations to ensure systems and processes are developed to provide an outstanding and consistent logistics service to all sales channels (E-com, retail & B2B)

You will be expected to develop and implement the supply chain strategy; at least annually, review and update the supply chain strategy considering business developments and optimisation opportunities. Finally, you will build relationships with key stakeholders with effective communication and through travel to London and international sites.

What you'll need to succeed

To succeed in this role you will have extensive experience within Logistics and Distribution at a Global level. Having worked within an Ecommerce focused company or operation will be key to your success in this role. You will have experience setting up distribution hubs from the ground up and will be able to advise on warehouse or distribution centre best practices. Having worked with luxury or complex goods will allow you to match the company culture and unique challenges that come with distributing high value, hand crafted items. Finally, experience within the APAC region and with CITIES clearances is not essential but will be useful when dealing with international customs and operations.
