Logistics Coordinator

A Logistics Coordinator is required for a prominent manufacturing company based in Sheerness, Kent paying up to £30,000 plus pension. This busy role will require you to manage the company’s distribution network ensuring prompt and timely delivery to clients and supporting the good out/in process. A confident communicator with excellent administration and planning skills is required for the position.

Duties will include:

• Management of the delivery fleet by liaising closely with the manufacturing department and Works Manager to ensure prompt delivery
• Work closely with the works manager to finalise a works schedule by working closely with the warehouse team
• Produce accurate route plans that take account of all logistical considerations for shipping
• Ensuring that the transport of goods meets HSE standards
• Monitoring delivery performance of all drivers and ensure expectations are met
• Promote high standards of customer care and presentation and reinforce the importance of this in all drivers
• Produce and run logistics schedules and raise all supporting paperwork
• Liaise with customers and internal team members to ensure the smooth running of logistics and deliveries
• Negotiate best price third parties when required for additional support

You will have previous experience of working in logistics gained within a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of the distribution of hazardous goods would be an advantage. You will be confident in managing a fast-moving delivery team providing clear guidance to the drivers and solving logistic issues whenever they may arise. You will have strong administration skills and be a clear communicator who can take ownership of planning delivery routes in a cost-effective and prompt manner. A calm manner and the ability to work in a fast-moving environment with the pressures that may normally arise in a distribution role is important.
