The Director of Contract Operations is a critical leadership role within the business, leading the Contracts Team and ensuring the team are aligned to business priorities and have a well-planned pipeline of work resourced appropriately, to ensure successful delivery.  Can you think differently about how we contract end to end with customers and define an easy and simple streamlined path to get customer contracts executed fast and make doing business easy?

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop, train and coach a team of c8 professionals to make the most of their potential; to develop their careers and to motivate them to deliver the greatest benefit possible.
  • Support the Operations Director as well as contributing new ideas to the implementation of the new operating model for the team which is based on process excellence; pace; empowerment and excellent communication.
  • Develop pipeline plans of likely work and ensure the team is managed appropriately to balance priorities and maximise skills sets.
  • Build strong relationships and business understanding with the business units and as a result be recognised as the single point of contact (the go-to person) for all material and escalated Contract Operations issues and requests providing legal advice and prioritising work to meet the business needs.
  • Develop a risk based approach to moving contracts to streamline in 2019 taking an end to end view to ensure contracts tie up with business processes and call off portals.
  • Assess risks on material contracts and recommend a risk based approach to optimise time; effort; value and risk in each negotiation.
  • Lead the negotiation of material customer contracts in a timely fashion using techniques that achieve a signed contract fast whilst owning the end to end process from drafting through to contract signature. However, these should be minimal.
  • Proactively identify areas of continuous improvement and then deliver them in areas such as contract template; process; technology using external experience and new innovations in the external market. Develop and/or adjust contractual templates for the introduction of new services.
  • Develop personal development and learning plan and then execute.
  • Assess risks and make risk based decisions and recommendations to optimise time; effort; value and risk
  • Develop and manage relationships with key customers.
  • Essential Knowledge & Skills
  • Commensurate / demonstrated experience in senior commercial contracts role
  • Strong relationship building and influencing skills at senior levels
  • Excellent articulation, communication and presentation skills
  • Strong prioritisation and organisational skills including project management
  • Experience of drafting and negotiating contracts with strong negotiation skills and pragmatic approach to risk
  • Experience in successfully delivering complex change management programmes
  • Demonstrated experience of leading teams
