Title: Energy Contracts Buyer

Salary: £30K - £35K

Location: Northampton or Portsmouth

Role Purpose:

Have you worked in either a consultancy or Energy supplier? Do you have a good working knowledge of how energy contracts work? We are looking for an Energy Contracts Buyer who understands the basics around how supply contracts work, the data and parameters involved with generating them and what can be negotiated. As an Energy Contracts Buyer, you will ensure that delivery is in line with the expected quality, timeliness and budgeted costs of the business. The Energy contract Buyer will gain a detailed knowledge of the methodology and calculations of the Energy platform and industry pricing, together with a full understanding of the portfolio requirements and to represent the delivery function in relevant forums. The Energy Contracts Buyer will maintain and develop supplier relationships on a day to day basis, participating in supplier review meetings, training sessions and/or monthly conference calls. Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the day to day delivery of Fixed Price, Fixed Term tender and flexible contracting activity and ensuring the provision of high quality electricity, gas and water supply contract procurement
  • Provision of a single point of contact for suppliers relating to the fixed price, fixed term and flexible tenders procured via the team
  • Ensure that relationships with suppliers, customers and internal teams are maintained to a high level
  • Responsible for the project management and delivery of all tender activity prior to contract award
  • Ownership of the documentation that is issued by the team for the provision of the fixed price tendering service (such as procurement details sheet, post tender report, etc.)
  • Maintain a complete record of all tenders completed for audit trail purposes by logging and updating all internal systems in a timely fashion
  • Provide internal KPI reporting to the business in line with the above

Experience Required:

  • Energy Contracts experience - the basics around how supply contracts work, the data and parameters involved
  • Commercial awareness / Ability to recognise contractual risk
  • High level of Excel skills - able to use functions such as vlookups, pivot tables, etc.
  • Experience of using database platforms desirable (MS Access)
  • Able to handle and interpret figures and calculations with accuracy
  • Good eye for detail and ability to spot erroneous data
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Able to effectively communicate at all levels
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Ability to communicate and influence
  • Pro-active and able to prioritise effectively
