Procurement Specialist

Our client is a VC backed, direct to consumer pet wellness brand whose mission is to disrupt the traditional pet food market. They cook and deliver fresh dog food to homes across the UK tailoring every meal to suit the needs of the individual dogs.  For every new client they sign up, they donate a meal to a homeless or sheltered dog!

How you expect the candidate to spend their day:

This role will report into our Head of Supply Chain but will work closely with everyone in the operations team. The role is largely built around supplier management and as such you will be frequently coordinating and attending supplier meetings across the country and visiting our facilities, so should expect to be out of the office travelling ~1 day a week.

Key responsibilities:
Supplier Management

•    Manage our supply of materials, build strong relationships with suppliers and partners

•    Collaborative working with supply base to review contracts, SLAs and ways of working

•    Run regular KPIs  for all raw material suppliers to ensure quality and efficiency
Strategic Planning

•    Ensure a continuous supply of materials to facilitate smooth production and scalability

•    Forecasting, capacity tracking and monitoring of availability for all materials

•    Identify and execute contingency supply plans for materials
Financial strategy & execution

•    Working with the finance team to review pricing and budgeting for sourcing of materials

•    Confidently negotiate prices autonomously - always pushing for the right prices

•    Ensuring pricing meets our margin targets achieving budget with sustainable supply
Collaborative working

•    Working closely with the wider operations team to ensure sourcing needs are met to deliver quality products to our customers

•    Support successful New Product launches; delisting and sourcing of products

•    Working across wider teams to build infrastructure for growth & scale in the long term

A bit about you:

•    1+ years experience in Supply Chain or Sales

•    Strong numerical skills *bonus points if you are confident and competent in excel*

•    Organised with a keen attention to detail

•    Passionate and confident in relationship building with external suppliers

•    Strong communicating skills with all levels of the business

•    Loves problem-solving & understands what the business needs - seeking out answers and proactively taking the necessary steps to achieve results

•    Will ensure the integrity of supply chain and commercial data

•    Strong negotiator

•    Proactive and able to work autonomously

•    Creative and brings an open-minded approach, hunger to learn and always looking to improve
