Procurement Category Lead - Logistics / Freight

My client is a Global market leader looking to recruit a Category Lead (Procurement), responsible for the Procurement / Contracts / SRM across various Logistics and Freight related projects. The role has been created due to an internal secondment and provides a great opportunity to join a large organisation who are going through a major Globalisation project within Procurement.

You will be a strategic Procurement professional with end to end category management experience within Logistics / Freight.

Role:
*Strategic Procurement support to assist with all procurement activities relating to Logistics & Freight projects
*Scope out supplier opportunities to ensure best service and cost for Logistics / Freight categories through contract award and delivery of contract
*Reviewing, developing, setting and delivering category strategies and directly managing contracts delivery. This includes the use of reverse auctions
*Prepare, conduct and analyse RFP's, RFQ's and RFI's
*Work with the Global Procurement Team to complete RFP / RFQ / RFI evaluations; analyse data and make recommendations on supplier selection
*Formulate, review and negotiate contracts in line with legal T&Cs / framework contracts
*Manage underperforming suppliers, intervening where necessary to resolve issues and provide solutions
*Develop close co-operative internal stakeholder relationships to leverage their expertise; understand market conditions; support their specific aims and objectives and deliver value adding services and agreements
*Identify and deliver savings / rebate opportunities in line with departmental / business targets
*Champion for Supplier Relationship Management of selected Suppliers
*Maintain positive executive relationships with suppliers, focusing on critical suppliers
*Be accountable for addressing process / procedural requirements, identified through the strategy and ensure their development and implementation
*Create, implement and advocate a high calibre supplier onboarding process and experience. Ensure this is replicated each time a new supplier is identified / requested

Candidate:
*Strong Procurement & Category Management experience
*Ideally MCIPS
*Worked in multi-functional teams
*Strong negotiation and contract drafting skills
*Understanding of Contract law and contract drafting for different types of Product / Services
*Knowledge of bid evaluation using whole life cycle cost model
*Cost saving methodology using value engineering, sustainability etc
*Can represent / interact across all levels of the business
*Good knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft office packages & SAP or equivalent MRP system
*Supplier Relationship Management skills
