European Road Freight Operator

A family owned freight forwarder are looking for a EUROPEAN ROAD FREIGHT OPERATOR to work from their Castleford office.

The client has been delivering dependable, cost effective transport and warehousing solutions for over 40 years, and today we're one the UK's leading logistics providers.

From their state-of-the-art distribution, warehousing and training facility in West Yorkshire, their extensive fleet of vehicles operates a UK wide service and a valuable link to Europe.

The ideal candidate will thrive under pressure, be accustomed to working in a busy transport environment and have a proven track record in European road freight operations.

Duties include:

· Planning of groupage and full loads, and express deliveries, to and from European destinations

· Interaction with round-trip drivers

· Sourcing one-way international equipment and negotiating with hauliers

· Maintaining close contact with overseas partners and agents

· Allocating domestic collections / deliveries to in house domestic team and third party hauliers

· Handling customer queries and providing operational updates

· Managing KPIs for major clients

· Data entry and document generation

· Providing spot quotations

· Charging of files in preparation for invoicing

Skills and qualities required:

· Proven experience of European road freight operations

· Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, etc.)

· Good level of administrative skill with an attention to detail

· Confident and effective communications skills (verbal and electronic)

· Customer focussed

· Commercially aware

You will be required to work 08.30 - 17.00 Monday to Friday with an occasional Saturday morning

Benefits:

£20k - £25k basic salary
