Job Title: Contract Manager

Location: Reading / Portsmouth / Glasgow

Salary: £39,419 - £52,055 depending on skills and experience

Permanent| Full Time Hours with flexible working patterns available | 37 hours per week

Our Role

As our Contract Manager, you'll be responsible for the commercial management and administration of contracts to ensure successful compliant delivery, in accordance with the contract and internal policies and procedures. You will also support the delivery of departmental KPIs and objectives such as savings against total cost of ownership, continuous improvement and safety performance.

You'll understand and support the development of relationships with suppliers and liaise with stakeholders on a project(s) / contract(s). You'll also support the Senior Contract Manager & the Head of Commercial Contracting in providing a world class commercial service to internal customers which includes contract management and delivery, supplier relationship management, commercial guidance, risk management, contract administration and dispute resolution. You'll be responsible for ensuring all contracts are industry leading and appropriately apportion risk between SSE and the supplier(s). You'll also work with the Performance Management team to log and implement changes to improve SSE's commercial position, which will be backed up with robust business case justification.

Your Skills and Experience

You'll understand the commercial aspects and implications of decisions made of projects / contracts and have sound knowledge of contract management theory, contract structure and documentation, the supply chain and relevant statutory and legal provisions. You'll be a highly effective negotiator and influencer with demonstrable experience of the above, supporting and leading negotiations of strategic projects/contracts with the ability to influence users outside your own sphere of responsibility. Excellent analytical skills are an absolute must for this role, coupled with the ability to interpret, summarise and challenge key performance data to allow forward planning and effective, timely decisions to be made. You'll have excellent organisation and planning skills with the ability to work to deadlines and deal with changing priorities whilst managing your own time effectively.
