Events & Operations Manager

Looking for a dynamic individual with a strong F&B background, that is well rounded in handling a variety of challenges and tasks in different environments presented to them .

The position is a dual role split over the summer & winter months.

5 day week - Flexibility is required

Winter - Operations manager for a busy fixed venue contract at Plumpton Racecourse, managing the day to day operation from staffing, set up and on the day running of the event. The contract has a variety of hospitality outlets including a restaurant, banqueting, bars and retail. As the sites operations manager you will hold a key part in all catering aspects, playing a crucial role in the success of the race days F&B delivery.

Summer - (May-August) attention turns to the busy wedding season. The focus being on a high class delivery of service across variable locations and venues in Sussex. Working with a core team and agency staff, the role will be an events management one with a focus on a successful delivery of the event. Working hours mainly Weds to Saturday

The role is ideal for someone coming from a contract catering or outdoor catering background, looking to learn new skills beyond running and delivering an event.

Job Duties Include ( though not limited to )

• Overseeing and ensure full event / venue set up
• Staff Rota & Management
• Client Meetings & liaison with 3rd parties & contractors
• On site business development & innovation
• Delivery of excellent customer service
• Event planning and running of events/weddings

Ideal candidate

• Flexible mindset - both in working hours and attitude towards the role
• Strong event management background - ideally with multi site experience
• Ability to manage both small and large teams
• Handle pressure and act incisively
• Strong work ethic & enthusiasm
• Commercial swiftness - understanding of P&Ls, budgeting and similar spreadsheet
• Strategical Thinker - ability to conceive and plan effective strategies

Candidates must have a clean driving license
