Purchasing Manager - New role (FMCG)

My client are an international market leader of goods to established channels of distribution that includes both consumer and retail markets. Highly successful having taken their turnover to in access of £60 million this year since their inception they are looking to recruit an experienced Purchasing Manager to contribute to their next period of growth. The role of Purchasing Manager is a new role that will see you responsible for 3 Material Planners. They seek a commercially, improvement driven Purchasing professional with both flair and creativity to inspire the team whilst driving improvements for the business that can be both cost and lean effective.

Salary: Up to £40k (DOE)

Additional Benefits: 10% bonus paid on KPI incentives and profits, 25 days holiday, Pension, Free Parking

Commutable Locations: Leeds, Wakefield, Bradford, Harrogate, Huddersfield and Halifax

Role Profile: Purchasing Manager reporting to the Supply Chain Manager

You will be responsible for:

  • Driving forward processes and operational changes that can benefit the business
  • Improvements to relationships with suppliers and teams in order to take the business to the next level
  • Purchasing of inventory, consumables and services
  • Budget and Costs
  • Maintain vendor details, audit and execute to ensure they are working within SLA guidelines
  • Management reports including: Slow Stock Movements whilst working in collaboration with Stakeholders
  • Define, monitor and review KPI's
  • Take responsibility for external stock profiles within European warehouses

Personal Requirements:

  • CIPS qualified would be advantageous but candidates qualified by experience may also be considered
  • Purchasing experience ideally within FMCG (Any experience of stock movement would be of value)
  • High level of commercial acumen where you can evidence this at interview
  • Proven leadership skills and of being able to create long lasting relationships with teams
  • Self-motivated, happy to be visible as the lead in this area, confident whilst holding strong analytical skills
  • Confident IT skills including experience of using ERP systems
  • Valid passport holder as there may be some European travel
  • Full driving licence
