Nelson Permanent Placements are pleased to be working with our client who is a leading developer & manufacturer supplying into the Automotive industry. Our client is looking to bring in an Assistant Purchasing Manager.

The successful applicant will be responsible for a team of Buyers in ensuring that the day to day running of the purchasing activities run as smoothly and effectively as possible, dealing with any issues which may arise.

Someone who has 3 years+ experience in a similar role would be highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • To Monitor departmental day to day activity to ensure suitable resource allocation and business risks are identified
  • To carry out ongoing cost down negotiations to ensure that annual material cost savings are met
  • Maintain departmental KPI records
  • To actively support capex purchase projects ensuring appropriate contractual requirements are in place to support business requirement.
  • To supervise and review general expenditure including works engineering, utilities, waste management and consumables and optimise purchase status for the organisation.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • MCIPS (Member of Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply)
  • Familiar with TS16949 and ISO14001 and an understanding of lean manufacturing and processing skills
  • Proven experience of working with and managing suppliers in an automotive environment
  • Self motivated and dynamic with a can do attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. High level of numerical and analytical ability
  • Excellent PC skills within Office packages and ERP systems (SAP experience an advantage)
  • Ability to motivate, involve and engage team members to deliver departmental objectives.
  • Ability to sustain and develop team working and team based problem solving.
