Business Development Manager (Supply Chain)

Up to £60K plus car/allowance, generous commission structure and benefits

We are working on behalf of a privately owned multi - million turnover supply chain Company, based in the NW, who are looking for a Business Development Manager to focus on growing their new business portfolio.

This role involves working in collaboration with clients to design a bespoke solution for their business, it is therefore vital that applicants come from a solution selling background and can demonstrate innovation.

The Business Development Manager will identify, target, develop strategies and win new business opportunities within the Automotive, Industrial, Beverage or Utility markets. You will need to demonstrate that you can deliver new opportunities whilst maintaining a quality pipeline to support the growth of the business.

The role involves

  • Create and maintain a network of prospects and contacts to enhance awareness and reputation of the company to influence future opportunities.
  • Lead and manage the bid and tender qualification and submission process through CRM, utilising support from within the functional business teams, to deliver successful win conversion rates. Ensure profit and cash expectations are achievable and follow the established Business Winning process.
  • Remain abreast of industry developments and market trends within the market /sector and pro-actively communicate with the organisation.
  • Maintain the company’s system in a timely basis to reflect all networking, prospect and bid opportunities.
  • Work closely with the company’s marketing team, to create marketing material in light of sector specific service offerings.
  • Launch the project within the internal implementation team and work in liaison with the appointed Project Manager to bring the opportunity to a successful conclusion.
  • Travelling across the UK and occasionally Europe will be a key part of the role, however will be fully expensed and reimbursed.

Ideal Experience:

  • Strong business development and account management experience gained within the supply chain industry preferably within Automotive, Industrial, Beverage or Utility markets.
  • Determined, empathetic and persuasive person with strong influencing and interpersonal skills.
  • High degree of commercial and analytical acumen.
  • Goal driven and focused.
  • Project management, negotiation and presentation skills to senior level are essential.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to organise to achieve results, quickly absorbing an interpreting new/complex information.
  • An in-depth knowledge of the market and supply chain requirements.
  • Continuous improvement ethos.
  • Be IT savvy and have the ability to pull together presentations on word, PowerPoint and use Excel to collate information.
  • A willingness to attend networking events sometimes out of core work hours.
