Supplier Performance Manager - Up to 40% travel

On behalf of a global manufacturer with an exceptional reputation, we are seeking to recruit an experienced Supplier Performance Manager to join an experienced team based out of their state of the art facility in Wolverhampton.

Are you comfortable to travel to suppliers both domestically and internationally in a role that requires up to 40% travel?

This exciting and unique opportunity will allow you to make the most of these abilities while working for a low volume, high value manufacturer of precision motion control components for the aerospace industry. You will evaluate supplier performance and where necessary implement and drive improvements plans for underperforming suppliers.

The Role:


The Supplier Performance Manager (SPM) is responsible for the development, onboarding and growth of suppliers in support of strategic supply chain goals. They will manage supplier risk assessment and mitigation plans. They will also have a tactical responsibility to develop improvement plans for underperforming suppliers and supporting periodic Business Reviews.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure Supplier compliance to customer flowed-down contractual requirements evidenced through annual assessment
  • Execute supplier risk assessments and establish mitigation plans with suppliers in support of commodity goals.
  • Coordinate cross-functional support as required by the Commodity Director to support development initiatives and risk mitigation activities at suppliers.
  • Develop Onboard and Grow suppliers for increased business volume.
  • Participate in and assist with supplier selection, including make versus buy analyses and transition of parts.
  • Support technical problem-solving efforts for systemic supplier non-conformances.
  • Assess supplier's capabilities and capacity.
  • Actively participate as a member of the Commodity Core Leadership Team.
  • Have an understanding of the business product lines in order to support cost, delivery and quality improvement programs with existing and new suppliers.
  • Knowledge of the supply base, current supplier performance, manufacturing best practices, and quality tools.



Qualifications & Abilities:

  • Ability to build relationships with suppliers' personnel at various levels of their organizations.
  • Bachelor's degree in the field of manufacturing/operations or engineering; or a minimum of 8 years of progressive experience (usually post-education) in the field of Manufacturing, Engineering and/or Quality.
  • Proven general capabilities in procurement practices, supplier assessments, supplier development and/or customer support.
  • Proven specific capabilities in understanding and communicating the technical aspects of the goods and services procured and abilities to form and lead teams.
  • Desirable qualifications would include: Black Belt and/or Six Sigma certified, Lean Certification, Supply Chain Management.
  • Blue print reading and understanding of material specifications and secondary operations.
  • MS Office skills required. Demonstrated ability to create spreadsheets complete complex analysis.
  • Presentation skills and ability to present to customers and suppliers.
  • Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning and Control Plan (APQP) approach and tools
  • Must Possess advanced problem solving skills (8D, 7QC tools) to support Supplier Improvement Plan (SIP) Activities
  • Experience of risk management, quality, and interfacing with suppliers
