Assistant Operations Manager - Business Travel

Up to £38,000pa + benefits

Are you a proven leader with a strong background in leadership and management within the Business Travel Industry working for a large TMC?

Jewels Travel Recruitment are working with a Leading TMC based in London who due to expansion are seeking an Operations Team Leader to Assist the General Manager, managing a team of up to 10 Senior Business Travel Consultants.

As Assistant Operations Manager you will have direct responsibility for the quality, performance and output of the Business Travel Consultants. The responsibility extends to managing the daily operation through multiple inbound/outbound channels including phone and e-mail in the creation of all group travel meetings reservations as well as driving the creation of future reservations online.

Assistant Operations Manager will mentoring and develop your team, identifying opportunities to enhance skills and experience through training and career development.

Assistant Operations Manager Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage the training plan for your team in conjunction with the Head of Groups and Head of Operations
  • Delivery of industry leading customer service
  • Achieving or exceeding all metrics and service level agreements
  • Ensuring compliance to preferred partner programmes, maximising revenue by booking with these preferred suppliers.
  • Daily line and performance management, motivation and development of the team
  • Daily operational updates with peers escalating issues where appropriate
  • Conduct regular reviews and annual appraisals for all team members, identifying and delivering any training requirements and performance improvement measures
  • To coach and mentor team members in order to develop and improve performance
  • Conduct monthly probation review meetings in line with policy for all new starters
  • To investigate escalated customer complaints or issues to satisfactory resolution
  • To maintain strong inter-departmental relationships with all areas of the business, in particular finance and operations
  • To ensure excellent client knowledge
  • Managing HR issues in accordance with Managers Guide on employment practices

Essential Qualification/Experience:

  • Experience of operational management preferably within the Corporate/ Business Travel Industry
  • Excellent Geographical and system knowledge
  • Ability to understand and act on the key metrics and business drivers
  • Experienced in people development and management
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Strong organisational and time management skills

Desired Qualifications/Experience:

  • Strong leadership, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Strong communications skills both written and verbal
  • Strong relationship building skills
