Job Details

Based in North Hampshire, this established brand in the UK are embarking on an ambitious transformation with a new CEO driving their digital agenda. As a result, they have hired a new Procurement Director and he is seasoned at transforming and moving functions forward where Procurement is immature and lacks the right level of engagement in the business. He is looking at the function and in the process of restructuring.

One of the first roles to be created in this new structure is Senior Procurement Manager. This is the biggest category with a spend value of £200m and everything Directs with some Indirect spend sits within this team.

You do not need this category experience however, but what you do need is the right personality and approach to drive the change needed. This role will be more about how you change operational processes to save money through make v buy, finding new ways of working and working in partnership with suppliers. This will be a demanding category with an operationally savvy team so will need someone who knows SRM in and out and can manage demanding stakeholders.

As Senior Procurement Manager you will:

  • Be responsible for devising strategy, gaining business alignment and execution at category level
  • Where relevant, build, manage and develop team to deliver against strategy
  • Director level stakeholder management, updating key teams on a regular basis and gaining alignment to strategy
  • Deputise for Head of Category Tower 
  • Build and lead project teams around Procurement initiatives

Key experience

This role would suit somebody who is able to work autonomously, challenge the status quo with inquisitive thinking, demonstrate strong interpersonal and facilitation skills as well as maintaining a high level of detail.

In addition, you will possess:

  • 7+ years of experience in Procurement, with more recent experience of line management
  • Ability to autonomously build strategies, gaining business alignment to these and delivering against them
  • Line management experience to deliver against objectives
  • Experience of full end to end lifecycle Procurement, including 7 step strategic sourcing
  • Ability to conduct complex sourcing initiatives
  • Experience of deriving cost reduction through operational efficiency
  • Direct and indirect procurement experience
  • Effectively identify and manage supply chain and financial risk
  • Proactively interrogate budgets to identify opportunity and risk
  • Build and lead cross functional project teams to address initiatives identified
