Contracts Manager - Home Based - Permanent - Kent

£35,000 - 39,000 plus car or car allowance

Our insurance industry client is looking for an experienced a Contracts Manager in or around the Kent area to join them on a permanent basis. You will be home-based but working as part of a strong team (both office & field based), dealing with post-subsidence claim reinstatement works within a designated patch around your postcode.

Working closely with support from Claims Handlers and Field Engineers you will be visiting policyholder’s properties (domestic and commercial properties) to carry out a survey & scope of works (following the completed initial assessments, monitoring and remedial works being completed for the subsidence issue), managing the contractors completing the repairs phase and redecoration works, dealing with variations throughout the project as necessary.

We are looking for a Contract Manager who is located in or close to one of the following areas; Dartford, Maidstone, Bromley or Tonbridge and you will need to be prepared to travel in this role.

Job role and responsibilities

This Contract Manager role will see the successful post holder taking on a case load of insurance claim reinstatements to manage the repair phase of both domestic and commercial property subsidence claims (and general perils once the subsidence surge has finished). You will be attending site to schedule repairs and scope works, conducting a pre-contract meeting with the relevant contractor and managing the project to completion of works.

You will be working with a supportive field & office-based team and managing a network of contractors in your geographical patch.

You will:

  • Take ownership and manage a caseload of subsidence claims
  • Schedule repairs
  • Conduct pre-contract meetings
  • Ensure Health & Safety and CDM obligations are met and carry out H&S site audits
  • Validate variation requests
  • Manage and report on the progress of each claim throughout the process
  • Identify new contractors for addition to the network as required
  • Performance manage the contractors in your area and carry out audits (suitability/competence etc.)
  • Cost management throughout the repair phase of the project
  • Provide an excellent customer service to policyholders

What skills/experience will you need?

For this role you will need have experience of working within the building / construction industry and have solid experience as a Contracts Manager / Surveyor. You will have had experience in project managing property repair works and have worked for a loss adjuster, insurance company or specialist contractor. You will ideally have knowledge of the home insurance claims process, perils and cover surrounding subsidence and related issues.

You will need to demonstrate a working knowledge of relevant legal & regulatory matters such as; Asbestos Handling, CDM, DPA, H&S, Party Wall Act) and ideally hold a NEBOSH certificate (or be willing to work towards this). It would be advantageous if you have a building/technical related qualification such as an HNC or Building Surveying/Engineering Degree and/or Cert CII.

You will need strong customer service & organisational skills, an excellent telephone manner and both written & verbal communication skills. This is a busy role, you will need to be able to work autonomously, have great time management skills and have the ability to remain calm when under pressure. You will also need to be IT literate.

You will need to be able to drive and prepared to travel as required.

In addition to the salary (negotiable around £35-39k depending upon experience), the company provide some excellent additional benefits (including a car or £4,500 car allowance, pension, death in service etc.), support and training.
