Technical Operations Manager (Software)

Location - London
Package - Basic to £100,000 with pension, gym and share options.

We're looking to bolster the management team in a fast growth online service Tech Company in London, as they are looking at significant headcount growth through 2019 due to a significant injection of funding which could result in a 10x growth of their workforce.

Most of the new hires are going to be technical, around software and DevOps but as those technical numbers increase, the management structure obviously needs to expand as well.

We're calling this the Operations Manager and that is a fitting title, but the position is going to be quite all round and in a nutshell, you'll own the performance and stability of the software platform and will be the day to day operational driving force.

Similar to many rapid growth technology businesses, this is a continually evolving setup and while the environment is full of energy, passion and ideas, they need to implement an element of structure and process whilst maintaining the culture that makes this a lively and open minded place to work.

The platform and technology is working but how will you make it better by way of process, QA, product management and to do this, you'll work closely with colleagues across engineering, product management and QA to ensure the best experience for the customers.

Who are you?

A manager that likely comes from an opensource software / LAMP technology background but DevOps would be perfect and we are thinking that you'll have been on a rapid growth journey previously and have a story to tell by way of what you put in place to harness the energy, but build frameworks & methodologies to make sure that when it comes to scalability, everybody in the business on the technical side is pushing in the right direction.

To give a few ideas, you'll predominantly be from a Linux based production environments (ideally Ubuntu or Centos) and likely have experience of AWS (EC2, RDS, SQS, Cloudwatch), MySQL, PHP, Python and Node.JS - hence our mention to DevOps.

You'll be a teccy by trade (Likely an architect) but will have moved away from the tools into a senior leadership role and can balance that best of both worlds that offers credibility and gravitas to the team as you will have been where they are currently but can give them and the business the benefit of your experience as they approach this ultra-fast growth stage. Experience working directly with developers and sysadmins, reviewing code and analysing data is going to be what we need, but alongside the newly appointed CTO and the owners of the business (Who are also developers by trade), you'll form a key part of the senior leadership team and pretty much will be driving this on a day to day basis.

What can the role be?

This is probably the selling point in that they are well funded and the owners of the business have grown and sold previous software companies to the tune of millions, so this isn't their first rodeo. The market they are in (Online services / customer comparison and lead generation) is continuing to grow and with the war chest they have financially, they are looking to recruit some of the top development and DevOps candidates around London so this is going to continue to steam forward and with this position offering equity in the business, it's a great time to join.

Based Paddington with flexible working hours (And a big chunk of common sense as you would be senior operational leader on site), it's got the normal perks you can think of by way of a funky working environment with more to follow through the course of 2019.
