Office Manager/Transport Controller £35000 Reading
The company
Established over 20 years, our client is a 24/7 courier company, one of the largest independent courier companies in the South of England with over twenty years of experience in delivering, Nationally and Internationally.
The role
To manage the company’s Reading office and a provide a high level of support to the control and operations, whilst ensuring a high level of customer service from booking to completion, as well as recruiting and managing self employed drivers
Key responsibilities
Allocation of work to couriers in a fair and transparent manner.
Taking bookings accurately and advising clients of our services.
Monitoring of jobs through to POD and completion.
Implementing and maintaining Service Level Agreements.
Proactively keeping clients and fellow employees informed of any delays or issues.
Ensure your fleet size is sufficient to service clients, particularly during peak periods
Maintain staffing levels and recruit when required.
Monitor real time GPS vehicle parcel tracking, on line booking and online proof of delivery.
Manage and exceed customer expectations
Liaise with other company offices and use in house courier exchange to ensure availability of drivers
The candidate
Enjoys an autonomous role
Will be driven and a self starter
Act on own initiative without constant supervision.
Ability to communicate clearly with clients, couriers and suppliers and remain professional at all times
Be highly organised.
Previous transport industry experience.
Good geographical knowledge.
Excellent punctuality and attendance
Computer literate.
Ideally, experience of a similar role as an Operations Controller
The hours of work are Monday to Friday 08:00 to 18:00 but the successful candidate will be expected to be able to deal with any problems outside of the normal working day
