We are currently seeking an experienced qualified lawyer to assist in delivering a comprehensive legal service. Your role will be to provide customer focused, high quality, responsive and specialist legal advice and to be responsible for a large legal caseload in relation to all aspects of contract and procurement law matters.

About you
We are looking for an individual who has significant experience of providing legal advice on and drafting straightforward and complex documentation relating to all contracts and procurement matters. You'll provide high quality legal advice, teamed with a practical and strategic focus.

The right candidate will quickly build positive working relationships with colleagues and clients, be motivated and able to hit the ground running.

You'll need to be able to perform legal work with limited supervision but also be a great team player, be able to manage a large and challenging case load, be computer literate, be persuasive and analytic and be able to plan and prioritise your caseload to meet strict deadlines.

You will have the opportunity to further develop your already extensive knowledge and understanding of law and procedures relating to contracts, local government, public procurement and collaborative procurement with other public bodies.

This is a fast paced specialist role where you'll need to demonstrate your ability to provide solutions together with focused and enabling advice and manage competing priorities to meet strict deadlines.

You will be

  • Admitted Solicitors, Barristers or Fellows of CILEX qualified in England and, in the case of solicitors, hold (or be able to obtain) a current practising certificate.
  • Experienced in giving legal advice on and drafting straightforward and complex documentation relating to all contracts and procurement matters, related governance and other general legal matters affecting the Council
  • Able to draft and settle original documents and clauses to give effect to special circumstances and new statutory provisions
  • Able to communicate with and advise in writing and orally, at all organisational levels, including Corporate Directors, Service Directors, Elected Members and others

You will receive

  • £43,757 - £46,567 a year
  • £3,203 car benefit allowance
  • Excellent pension scheme
