Data Protection Contract Manager/Paralegal
We're looking for a new Data Protection Contract Manager with strong contractual negotiations experience who can join our highly regarded Legal Team in Surrey.
Salary: £25-31k per annum (depending on experience)

The position will based at our Epsom Support Centre, but due to the agile working nature of our established team there is flexibility to also spend some of the week working from home. Between visiting our sites, negotiating contracts and advising all areas of the business, you won't need to worry about getting bored! You will become an integral part of our Legal Team with plenty of opportunity to gain more experience, hone your skills and flourish.

Whilst contractual amendments and negotiations will sit at the heart of this role, you will also assist with writing group wide policies, creating and presenting training materials to ensure the organisation is compliant with legal regulatory and contractual requirements in relation to data management and show your expertise by providing the business with sound commercial advice.

As a Data Protection Contract Manager/Paralegal, the duties and responsibilities of the role will include:

*Liaising with internal Legal Counsels and Procurement Team to ensure contracts with clients and third parties protect both the charity's commercial and legal position in relation to data privacy requirements, including advising on standard form Data Protection clauses or drafting new clauses as required
*Providing appropriate advice on and interpretation of the provisions of Data Protection legislation as they impact business activities in general and/or specific functions across all service lines and business functions

*Responding to tender questionnaires and information sharing agreements submitted as part of tender responses for clients concerning data privacy at the proposal stage
*Project management of ad hoc data protection initiatives
*Liaising with IT/Information Security to understand the security measures in place to reassure clients and understand contractual obligations

*Assist the team as required with managing the Data Incident Process: responding to a range of data breaches, data privacy and data security incidents and responding to business queries on Data Protection
*Supporting and advising the business in dealing with new regulations (e.g. GDPR)
*Delivering data privacy training sessions to teams as needed
*Drafting and updating internal policies and procedures in line with legislative requirements and business policies and procedures

We are looking for an individual who can engage and deliver a first class service to the business and the Legal Team through expertise and perseverance. We are looking for driven and talented individuals who can demonstrate:

*Previous and current experience within Legal/Paralegal team and/or a Data Protection role
*Contractual negotiation experience/qualification
*Contractual/Data Protection experience within a commercial environment
*Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
*Ability to communicate complex information in a clear and understandable format

This is not a role which requires a legal qualification, it is more important that you have a working knowledge of Legal and/or Data Protection and are keen to roll your sleeves up and get involved.

Location: Our Support Centre is located 5 minutes' walk from Epsom train station, just 35 minutes on a direct train from London Waterloo and 46 minutes from London Victoria. Please note that some travel to other site locations may be required.
