Abatec are currently recruiting for a construction professional with contract management experience, to report directly in to the Managing Director of our client, a South West based, specialist Sub Contractor. Our client specialises in the design, manufacturing and installation of high-quality architectural metalwork features, including: balconies, stairs, balustrade and structural steelwork. The successful candidate will join as a senior member of the contracts department and will have overall responsibility of managing allocated projects; with specific accountability to liaise between the company and its clients, to ensure contracts are fulfilled, in-line with the requirements relating to design, budget and programme.

As Contracts Manager you will:

  • Attend initial pre-let meetings with clients to agree the contract specific details to ensure the company can achieve the requirements.
  • Be the main point of contact for the client.
  • Raise EWO’s to the estimating office as variations occur and work with estimators to quote variations.
  • Liaise with the Finance Manager to monitor costs and producing monthly valuations.
  • Update ASTA Powerproject planning on all current projects, making changes as they occur and advising other departments of changes that might affect production and resources.
  • Be responsible for the forward planning of resources to ensure, sufficient direct and sub-contract labour is available to meet the contract dates.
  • Visit sites regularly, to update the programme in line with changing site dates.
  • Arrange site surveys in conjunction with design department.
  • Write method statements risk assessments and lift plans.
  • Review all site H&S reports at the weekly (Wed) contracts meeting and actioning as necessary.

Our client requires a Contracts Manager with:

  • Contract Management experience in a similar sector i.e. metalwork/steel structure, cladding or building contractor.
  • Good communication skills who will promote collaborative working with all departments.
  • Experience with ASTA Powerproject.
  • CSCS, SMSTS & First Aid (Advantageous).
  • Ideally educated as a minimum to HNC/HND/Degree level (or equivalent).

Benefits:

  • Salary £35,000 - £40,000 per annum DOE
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • 39.5-45 hours per week
  • Contributory pension scheme
