SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Key part of the supply chain function where you will assist in day to day purchasing activity managing this through the MRP systems and having direct liaison with technical engineering / manufacturing teams and external suppliers to expedite orders and ensure agreed supplier service KPI's. Assist with minimizing costs of purchased goods, screen suppliers for quality and track orders from initiation to usage, bringing new ideas to business or innovative ways of approaching old problems.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Procure a range of materials, components and services.
- Supplier monitoring and development.
- Inventory and stock control.
- Invoice reconciliation.
- Cost control and reduction.
Use computer systems to ensure efficient stock procurement, in line with business requirements whilst ensuring material shortages do not impact productivity advising on lead times to relevant departments
Produce management information as requested by the line manager
Develop and maintain proactive supplier relationships
Progress chase orders to ensure timely deliveries and liaise with other departments to ensure that product supplies are affecting manufacture, the use of tracking orders and expediting parts etc.
Placing orders against MRP recommendations & Non Production requisitions
Review acknowledgements
Generate and send order reports
Generate performance reports / KPI's
Assist Buyers with enquiries / sourcing products
Maintain system files to ensure knowledge sharing is obtained
Liaise with Stores / Goods Inwards to manage Third Party Vendor stock movements
Review Safety Stock and adjust levels when necessary
Adhoc duties as required within purchasing.
Skills required
Strong communication skills able to engage and provide good purchasing service to internal stakeholders and expedite with suppliers
Polite and effective telephone manager / negotiating skills
Excellent written, verbal, analytical, communication and inter-personal skills
Ability to set supplier delivery supplier delivery performance and maintaining effective stock levels
Strong, confident outgoing personality
Attention to detail, accuracy and diligence achieved
Excellent time management and organization skills
Willingness to learn new systems and products and implement new processes, procedures and procurement techniques
Excellent I.T skills including Microsoft software (Excel)
Awareness and aptitude to learn company's product range to be able to converse with suppliers with confidence.
Experience
Understanding of MRP / ERP systems
Experience of working and conversing with different departments and senior management
Experience of sourcing supply of manufacturing goods and all types of materials, steel products, steel plates, tubes, fittings, flanges etc, including all types of consumables used in welding and general shop floor requirements.
