Our Client is a leading manufacturer of mechanical engineering equipment used across the world for mixing and rotating equipment, and processing optimisation. Due to increased growth, an outstanding career opportunity has become available to join their Sourcing team as an experienced Buyer.

You will be responsible for obtaining materials and services, and managing vendors to be consistent with cost, quality, reliability and timing requirements, to support business goals.

You will be responsible for the following areas:

  • Review purchase order suggestions and requests, and completes placement of purchase orders with suppliers.
  • Process request for quotes from sales department
  • Execute manual purchase requisitions for indirect materials as required.
  • Negotiate price and delivery for supply of required materials and services while maintaining standard costs and gross margins and obtains approval as required.
  • Expedite orders, as necessary, to ensure on-time delivery from vendors and manage open purchase order deliveries.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of inventory for assigned commodities and review and update current item master re-order logic in computer database.
  • Create and maintain pro-active relationships with supply base including evaluation of supplier performance and capabilities to identify a procurement strategy for all assigned commodities.
  • Travels as needed to visit suppliers and potential vendors.

Essential skills and experience required:

  • 2-5 years (minimum) buying experience in a related industry
  • Expediting experience
  • Planning experience
  • CIPS qualified
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
