Interim Commercial Procurement Construction Expert

Seeking a Procurement Construction Expert to design and implement sourcing strategies across a number of disparate procurement functions - specifically Professional Services for this FTSE-100 organisation…

Our client is a major name organisation with the vision, means and intention of becoming one of the UK's largest house builders.  They have been acquiring and expanding businesses in this sector and now have ambitious plans to transform the way they buy and manage their construction/new-build suppliers as well as all the associated professional services.

• You MUST HAVE construction "professional services" (the likes of EC Harris etc.) procurement experience (cost consultants, design consultants etc.) and JCT contracts
• Develop and manage applicable procurement projects, by providing industry specific expertise, guidance and best practice techniques in the selection and management of third party relationships within the construction arena
• Reduce spend as a proportion of overall project cost - economies of scale, value engineering, rebates and enhanced warranty/guarantees
• Better brand Image through a partnering approach with manufacturers & merchants to help make the client a customer of choice
• Sharing industry best practice and innovation 
• Challenge as appropriate and provide price efficient, operationally effective and appropriate solutions for the business as a whole
• You must have the relevant sector (construction/new build) and procurement (construction/new build experience)

The Procurement Construction Expert must be highly commercial:

• Ability to negotiate and structure complex deals and contracts, optimising price, quality, delivery and service and ensuring deals can be replicated/rolled out to additional new builds
• Demonstrate a high-degree of numeracy, able to make quick calculations, understand commercial offers and recommend decisions based on them to obtain best value
• The ability to calculate best value in the supply chain, taking account of the total cost of ownership
• The accurate reporting of cost changes and cost avoidance

This is an agile role and there will be frequent UK-wide travel to the various sites (South, North, Midlands and Edinburgh).  You will ideally be based in the Southern half of the country within reach of Sussex.   You will need to spend every Monday in Brighton, East Sussex.
