Solutions Recruitment are delighted to be assisting our client with a search for a Import/Export Coordinator. My client is a leading international communications technology business based in Tyneside. Working within their Contracts & Finance function and reporting to the VP of Contracts & Finance, they require a Import/Export Coordinator to play an integral role in ensuring projects are exported on time and all imported components and materials are sourced for assembly to project time requirements and ensuring all legal, customs and shipping documentation and legislative requirements are fulfilled.

The shipping department manages inbound shipping of equipment from their suppliers and outbound shipping of finished product and other items to customers. My client seeks a candidate who has experience in global import/export processes and logistics to be the Import/Export Coordinator

Main responsibilities

  • Team Leader to manage Import/Export function in accordance with accredited good practice and internal processes
  • Preparation of commercial shipping paperwork (packing lists, commercial invoices, certificates of origin, etc) in accordance with contract and overseas customs requirements
  • Checking/validation of 3rd party transport documents (AWB/BOL etc)
  • Imports - coordination of collections and UK deliveries with freight forwarders
  • Exports — coordination of collection and overseas deliveries with freight forwarders
  • Provide import / export data to Sales teams (schedule, pricing, customs regime data)
  • Obtain quotations and complex movement proposals from freight forwarders
  • Calculate UK / Overseas import tax estimates
  • Prep of UK import clearance instructions
  • Prep of UK export clearance instructions
  • Project Shipping / Logistics Planning and Reporting — Schedule 1 Commercial requirements
  • Filing and maintaining shipping records

To be considered for the role, it is essential that candidates possess demonstrable experience of the coordination, administration and management of import and export activities inc. freight forwarding, import and export clearance licenses and overseas customs processes, HMRC customs procedures/CPCs.

Other key selection criteria includes:

  • Ideally educated to Degree level in a n appropriate discipline
  • Experience gained to a senior capacity
  • INCOTERMS and commercial trading expertise
  • Harmonised tariff system knowledge
  • Shipments under LC
  • Excellent document control and administration skills
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Excellent knowledge and experience using Excel
  • Experienced working within pressurised environments
  • Ideally have experience gained within an exporting technology business
