A global manufacturing engineering business require a Buyer. The Buyer will purchase from a broad supplier base, including electronic components, build-to-print parts, mechanical components and machining.

The Buyer will report to the Procurement Manager, and work within a large team of Buyers. The Buyer will be responsible for the procurement of predominately; electronics, electro-mechanical items (wiring, harnesses, cabling), plastics, metallic components, sub-contract machining and test equipment ,to support the manufacture of customer applications and products. This role will afford the Buyer a mixture of operational, and strategic purchasing activities in relation to supplier; selection, de-selection, negotiation performance management (delivery, cost and quality)

Specific duties of the Buyer include:

  • Management of the purchase order process with the supply chain
  • Negotiate and schedule delivery, and price changes with suppliers
  • Monitor, and report on supplier performance
  • Introduce new, and de-select current suppliers based on performance
  • Management of procurement department data in MRP/ERP
  • Support wider procurement department strategies

Buyer applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Experience in Purchasing, Procurement, Supply Chain or as a Buyer within a manufacturing or engineering business
  • Knowledge of either an electronics, electro-mechanical, mechanical or machinist supply chain
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Commercial acumen with the ability to negotiate with the supply chain and identify new supply partners
  • MRP/ERP experience - desirable
