A Purchasing Assistant is required for a manufacturing company based in Blackburn. We are looking for previous experience of purchasing to ensure that supplier relationships and efficient control of stock and parts are maintained.

The role will involve purchasing supplies for individual projects as well as ordering the components and parts for the production team. You will be obtaining quotes or issuing tenders as required and forecasting and planning materials needed.

The salary on offer is 19-23k per annum working Monday - Friday.

Description

The Purchasing Assistant will be responsible for:

  • The ordering of supplies, parts and components from suppliers
  • Continually driving costs down and sourcing best value, whilst not compromising on quality
  • Maintain and strengthen supplier relationships
  • Source new suppliers as required and negotiate favourable terms
  • Stock level monitoring and analysis
  • Creating purchase orders and sending to suppliers
  • Rescheduling orders as necessary to keep up to date with changing dates and lead-times
  • Keeping strong diary management to ensure lead times are met
  • Communicating with the shop floor and goods in departments to ensure that clear lines of communication and deadlines are met
  • Maintaining costing database with updated prices and products as necessary
  • Providing administrative support and excellent customer service

Profile

The successful Purchasing Assistant will be able to demonstrate:

  • An understanding of purchasing techniques and processes
  • MS Office skills, especially Microsoft Excel
  • Accountability and ownership of work remit
  • Strong communicator with good attention to detail
  • Good numerical and analytical skills
  • Can do, proactive attitude

This role would suit someone who has come from a similar industry, manufacturing or engineering or have at least 1 years’ experience of working within purchasing.
