An industry leading design and manufacturing company in the Hemel Hempstead area currently require a Purchasing Manager to join their team. The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for the purchasing function and the purchasing team (currently a team of 4). The business is fast paced and high growth, so it is important that the Purchasing Manager can prioritise and oversee the purchasing team effectively to complete the required workload whilst growing the systems and processes to suit.

Purchasing Manager Responsibilities:

- Overall responsible for all stock and special product ordering
- Take responsibility for Purchasing budget
- Overseeing partner supplier ordering
- Team HR (eg recruitment, management of HR situations as they arise, team appraisals and motivation)
- Purchasing strategy
- Responsibility for strategic supplier meetings
- Rebate schemes set up and maintained where possible
- Find new suppliers and ensure a secure supply chain for all products
- Researching new products
- Auditing suppliers - Supplier score cards created and maintained
- Instigate new systems and improvements and roll these out across the team, and work through problems that arise
- Combining the various systems for different products and different teams
- Work together with warehouse supervisor to balance efficient purchasing vs efficient warehouse operation

Experience/Skills:

- Experienced Purchasing Manager (or similar Lead Buyer etc.)
- MCIPS / CIPS qualified would be highly beneficial
- Experience within a manufacturing environment
- Commercial Awareness
- Strong negotiation skills
- Very experienced in methods of securing tenders/pricing from suppliers
- Team management experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work within deadlines and cope under pressure
