Job mission

FIXED-TERM CONTRACT

Under the authority of the Head of Division, the incumbent provides technical assistance in logistics and supports EDQM customer care in accordance with procedures, guidelines and priorities with a concern for quality, efficiency and accuracy, and in compliance with the values and regulations of the Council of Europe.

Key activities

The incumbent performs the following key duties:

Stocks:

  • manages the various stockrooms for EDQM “finished products” (reference standards and publications) including assigning storage spaces, monitoring storage capacity, etc.;
  • undertakes effective stock management and control of reference standards and publications (including entry into and removal from stock, initiating and monitoring stock-taking exercises, etc.);
  • ensures compliance with rules for occupational safety, hygiene and working conditions.

Distribution:

  • co-ordinates and leads the distribution team (10-12 co-workers) and supervises the initial training of new staff members;
  • supervises and optimises the processing of shipments (including dangerous goods and controlled substances), ensuring that all EDQM shipments are made in strict compliance with transport regulations for shipment by road, air and sea, working closely with service providers/suppliers/carriers;
  • provides, co-ordinates and/or supervises customer care support as regards:
    - queries from addressees concerning shipments in transit;
    - customer complaints related to shipments, in collaboration with the sales team;
  • signs declarations relating to shipments of dangerous goods and for shipments of controlled substances checks compliance with documentation requirements.

Eligibility Requirements

Only applicants who best meet the following criteria will be considered for shortlisting.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Completed full course of general secondary education followed by appropriate professional qualifications in logistics and 2 years’ relevant professional experience relating to logistics of dangerous goods;
    OR
  • Completed full course of general secondary education followed by 5 years’ experience in the field of logistics in transport of dangerous goods.

Language requirements:

  • Very good knowledge of one of the official languages (English or French) and good knowledge of the other.

Nationality:

  • Nationality of one of the 47 Council of Europe member states.

Age:

  • Under 65 years of age at the closing date of the vacancy notice.

Competencies

Essential:

  • Professional and technical expertise:
    - sound knowledge of regulations for the transport of dangerous goods (ADR and IATA);
    - good computer skills of standard tools in office applications and sound experience in the use of IT tools related to logistics and supply chain, eg. SAP MM, WM and SD modules or other similar ERP systems;
    - experience in supervising a team, preferably in the field of logistics.
