Head of Procurement - Business IT

We are working with an International Energy company recruiting for a Head of Procurement - Business IT.  As the Head of Procurement you will lead, steer and mentor the international procurement team of six and act as ‘stand-in’ for the VP of IT procurement to develop yourself further within the organisation. You will be tasked with:  

• Company-wide steering of strategic sourcing activities for the following spend categories: SaaS, Software, IT Services, and Market Data Management (i.e. commodities) across diverse business units

• Collaboration with IT executives and further relevant stakeholders

• Develop and implement category strategies and respective steering mechanisms

• Ensure achievement of forecasted cost reductions and productivity gains to drive your individual savings target

• Manage strategic supplier relations in close collaboration with IT, including steering and improving of supplier performance.

• Manage operational performance of team against Procurement KPIs

• Drive Operational Excellence within the team

• Lead category-focused analysis projects that target to identify and implement innovative sourcing levers

• Promote and drive cross-functional and cross-border cooperation 

Required Experience: 

• Proven leadership skills for a small to medium size team

• Deep relevant procurement expertise and experience regarding procurement strategies, technical understanding of the respective categories and relevant supplier market knowledge

• Deep relevant IT expertise and experience regarding external IT projects, external IT operations and cross-functions including Finance

• Experience with international IT vendors in terms of outsourcing/offshoring

• Comprehensive experience in the design and implementation of processes, structures, tools and methodologies of modern procurement organizations

• Advanced communication and presentation skills, to deal with stakeholders both internally and externally

• Hands-on mentality combined with a proactive and solution-orientated work style

• Well developed analytical skills

• Strong negotiation and conflict management skills

• High level of mobility, to spend time with team and also suppliers

• Business fluency in English required, knowledge of additional languages especially German would be highly desirable.
