Buyer - Healthier Snacking
We are now seeking an experienced Buyer to manage our Crisps & Healthier Snacking categories. This is a multimillion pound turnover category that is at the absolute core of the Travel business, and the growth of Snacking going forwards. Reporting to the Senior Buyer - Snacking this role will be responsible for driving forward our core offering across WHSmith Travel stores.
What you'll do
As a Buyer you'll be accountable for the Crisps & Healthier Snacking categories growth and development. You'll need to analyse data and spot trends, whilst building strategic relationships with global and niche brands in the industry to negotiate great deals. With commercial thinking and ingenuity, you'll create new ranges, with appropriate pricing and sales-boosting strategies to deliver profitable ranges and drive year on year growth.
Healthier Snacking has been a key pillar of growth for WHSmith Travel - with now one of the widest ranges on the market. This Buyer will need an entrepreneurial spirit in order to continue to adapt and grow the range ahead of the competition - helping to achieve the vision of 20% of our sales coming through healthier products by 2020. As a Buyer, you will oversee this category with the support of a direct report, and will work in a team alongside two other Buyers.
Who we're looking for
You will ideally be from an FMCG buying background, with Snacking, Food or Drink buying experience. With your expertise you'll drive the growth of this category holding full accountability for sales, margin and income.
We're looking for someone who is commercial, with a head for figures, as this is a data-driven area & business. Knowledge of Profit & Loss and supplier management is essential. Our Snacking category has grown significantly over the past few years. Therefore you'll need to have an entrepreneurial mindset and be looking for a role that has the scope to develop and make a real impact. If you're analytical, calm and articulate, you could be the ideal fit.
