Our client is looking for a Junior Buyer to join their fast paced and demanding Procurement function.

We aren’t too worried what you have bought before, but a year or so experience in a Procurement function is required.  The business is fast paced and demanding, and you will need to have great Stakeholder management skills as procurement isn’t mandated.

The work is varied and spread across indirects/services as well as directs.

Main purpose of the Buyer role:

  • Supporting the Head of Department and Procurement Manager

  • Responsible for maintaining Preferred Supplier Lists and developing supplier management plans with these Preferred Suppliers

  • Responsible for the negotiation of new contracts, renewals and commercial terms

  • To advise stakeholders whilst promoting procurement best practice

  • Find innovative and new commercial ways of working

  • Ensure use of procurement tools and processes developed and used by the rest of the procurement team. This includes running Procurement kick off meetings, use of RFQ templates, evaluation tools and supplier contract terms

  • Take ownership of sourcing projects

  • The successful candidate will also be expected to take on projects within other Category areas depending on expertise and workload within the team

Key Buyer Responsibilities:

  • Delivery of value to the business by negotiating the best possible contract pricing and terms without compromising service levels

  • Building and maintaining senior stakeholder relationships, ensuring you promote Procurement to those stakeholders

  • Developing & maintaining strategic long term relationships with key suppliers

  • Regular benchmarking to ensure best practice

  • Managing RFQ processes

  • Creating new opportunities to generate revenue, reduce costs and exceed expectations

  • Creating collaborative working relationships & processes with colleagues and managers throughout the business

  • Owning and Delivering Procurement Roadmaps, identifying spend areas where value can be derived and influencing the business to changes behaviours in these areas

  • Don’t worry if you don’t tick every box.  You will need to have basic Procurement experience but attitude and personality are high on the list !
