The post holder will be responsible for providing corporate oversight of contract management practices, contract performance and contract risk across the organisation. This post will have responsibility for carrying out the assurance function of the Contract and Supplier Relationship Management Team.

The post holder will be responsible for assisting contract managers across all Directorates with delivering improvements in contract performance and risk reporting.

The postholder will be responsible for reporting contract risk, performance, cost and opportunities to Senior Officers and Members as required. This will include reporting on improvements to the Council’s Contract systems, policies and processes.

The post holder will be expected to lead projects aiming to improve the quality and consistency of Contract Management practice across the organisation. This will involve contributing to the ongoing development of the Council’s Commissioning and Commercial Toolkit, Contract Management Policies and Governance Processes.

Applicants should have significant experience working in a commercial environment in a large and complex organisation. An ability to confidently provide professional advice to colleagues and partners is essential to the successful delivery of this role.

Applications should be able to show where they have previously contributed to effective assurance in a commercial setting; implementing new policies and procedures where appropriate to do so.

As a newly established team, there is a significant opportunity to build a positive culture around contract management across the organisation. Successful applicants will be in a position to contribute to building a positive reputation for the Contract and Supplier Relationship Management Team and lead on the development of some areas of the new approach. Thinking creatively, challenging current approaches and delivering differently will be essential aspects of this work.
