Procurement Leader

Salary: £39,836+

Barrow in Furness, Cumbria

Would you like to be responsible for a team of professional staff in the delivery of the Advanced Procurement Leader at our site in Barrow-In-Furness.

As a Procurement Leader, you will be ensuring materials and services are provided within budget and to schedule and in full compliance with the technical and quality requirements.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to learn new skills, have exposure to many different facets of the Submarine business and the chance to work with internal stakeholders and the supplier to ensure the boat requirements are met.

Your main responsibilities as a Procurement Leader will involve: 

Delivering the product by ensuring that direct reports have purpose and clarity and are empowered to meet key delivery targets within an acceptable timescale and budget

Assisting in delivering key strategies, policies and procedures that enhance product quality and customer satisfaction

Working cross functionally in order to ensure achievement of key knowledge transfer and deployment of best working practices across the business

Managing behaviours to ensure they are conducive to the required business culture, maintaining a united and professional image.

Managing own contract(s) in conjunction with activities listed above.

Maintaining the required levels of reporting across your team

Creating and maintaining purchase orders in SAP

Creating and maintaining TeamCenter chronicles and workflows

Facilitating and/or lead the LCM requirements associated with the work package and that of the team

Your skills and qualifications:


Management/Leadership/Supervisory experience or working towards or equivalent

Full MCIPS Qualification or working towards

Good people management skills required to manage team with various levels of experience and skill sets

Have the ability to interpret Supplier performance metrics and to work with suppliers to address performance shortfalls – Delivery, Performance, Cost, Quality

A good knowledge of all financial aspects of the role from  cost accountant management reviews and Cost Forecasting through to value for money for the equipment being procured and understanding what actions need to be taken if performance in these areas is not meeting the desired standard

Major subcontract management experience required to support team with various levels of experience

Run full Contract Management Reviews with Suppliers and take appropriate actions


Understanding of Supplier Performance reviews (SPR)

Stakeholder management

Familiarisation with SAP and TeamCenter

Familiarisation with Submarine Policy and Process, e.g., BP019, BP038

Daily interaction with team members in support of Team Performance Management

Knowledge of continuous improvement processes
