This Purchasing & Supply Chain Manager appointment is with a complex high-volume specialist manufacturer which is a subsidiary of a major international group. It operates from a significant site with c500 employees and manufactures a broad range of electrical products on both a batch and project basis with significant bespoke elements utilising a wide range of materials and an extended supply chain from the UK, the EU and China. It manufactures in excess of 7,500 SKUs, has in excess of 13,000 elements in the materials supply chain and its lead time commitments to customers are 3-5 days.

This Purchasing & Supply Chain Manager role reports to the head of the site and carries responsibility for a team of 8 SCM professionals including production and material / inventory schedulers, demand planning and SAP systems coordination colleagues. Additionally, you also will have responsibility for the warehouse and distribution team of c60 with the warehouse being on-site. 

You will focus on leading, developing and implementing a supply chain strategy that maximises customer satisfaction through world-class on-time delivery, lead time and quality metrics, reducing inventory and delivering the lowest total cost. The client is looking to increase inventory turns, reduce cycle times and improve customer on-time delivery. The group operates to world-class standards, has a well-defined lean culture and focuses on strong relationships with its suppliers. 

A candidate with world-class experience, leadership qualities and the headroom to grow is required for the Purchasing & Supply Chain Manager . Graduate qualified, you will have built a strong supply chain track record and have significant proven experience at management level in a world-class manufacturer of complex products or components and sub-assemblies. Specific areas of interest to the client include high volume complex products, automotive components and FMCG products. 

You will have direct experience of implementing lean concepts and ideally also have a Six Sigma certification (Black or Green Belt). You will also have implemented a pull-system / Kanban approach to component flow and have a real strength in depth in planning, scheduling and SCM systems. It is essential that you have ERP systems experience as the management of the MRP (SAP) module will be a strong feature.
