As Fleet Category Manager, you will take on strategic ownership of a key spend area for the UK in a multinational organisation where procurement is a business driver.

Description

As fleet category manager your responsibilities will be:-

  • Accountable for ensuring Category Management approach is followed, including:-
  • Accountable for developing and maintaining high quality category strategy plans
  • Regular meetings with key stakeholders to agree initiatives & priorities
  • Drive initiatives, from the procurement point of view, to achieve on time and in full delivery
  • Managing Strategic Sourcing projects (in line with Procurement Governance) from strategy development through to sourcing, negotiation and contract award.
  • Agreeing (and performing, as appropriate) post contract award Contract Management (contract admin, SRM, SPM) roles and responsibilities with stakeholders
  • Commercial supplier management of critical strategic suppliers
  • Recognise synergies with other areas of spend and incorporate where appropriate
  • Accountable for ensuring all his/her projects follow the agreed procurement governance and projects managed using nominated systems as appropriate
  • Is able to create and manage large complex sourcing events and negotiation activities with key suppliers, in line with the Fleet Category strategies, ensuring supply chain solutions meet the business requirements and deliver in-year P&L impacting savings and efficiencies.
  • Builds a clear and creditable opportunities pipeline (3 year vision) ensuring integration into the Global benefits tracker and demand calendar
  • Act as the expert and main day to day Procurement contact for his/her assigned category, as is seen as a 'seasoned professional' by stakeholders
  • Capable stakeholder management skills, ability to liaise with stakeholders of all levels confidently and autonomously building strong and effective relationships
  • Drive supplier performance measures against which suppliers are monitored within a culture of continuous improvement and best practice, making recommendations to change suppliers where necessary
  • Has a good understanding of how eSourcing works and how it should sit within procurement.
  • Provide leadership in the management and implementation of UK wide supply contracts
  • Ensure the UK&I Region fully optimises its procurement leverage through structured supplier rationalisation and consolidation programs
  • Ensure full contractual and legal compliance ensuring suppliers perform strictly in line with contractual conditions and legislative requirements; including risk assessments
  • Show a clear understanding of the business plans/strategies that might impact the category.
  • Ensure regular market testing and bench marking is performed to ensure the maintenance of market competitiveness, value for money and best practice.
  • Escalate issues to the Head of Fleet Procurement and/or operational stakeholders as appropriate

Profile

The successful fleet category manager will demonstrate:-

  • Sourcing, procurement and contract management skills and experience across multiple categories with at least 3-5 years procurement experience.
  • Personal credibility with good knowledge and understanding of commercial and operational requirements and able to present these with authority and conviction
  • Experience in the development and delivery of business strategy and a track record of ensuring that such strategies deliver sustainable commercial benefit and are fit for operational delivery.
  • Strong organisational skills, with experience of project management and program management, and a track record of successful deployment of major change.
  • Educated to degree level
  • Good technical Procurement skills - i.e. ability to write and run full and compliant tenders, negotiate and develop contracts for high profile Procurement projects.
