This leading food retailer is recruiting for a buyer to join their trading team. The successful candidate will contribute to the buying plan for the department across a mixed portfolio of ambient and specialty foods.

Key Responsibilities:

- Negotiate prices with current and future suppliers.

- Bring innovation through new ideas

- Produce good margin with suppliers

- Implement and new product develop strategies

- Be accountable for the New product development and implementation of promotions

- Identifying new product development opportunities

- Review current pricing and set current price strategies.

Ideal experience will include:-

·Have retail food buying or FMCG procurement experience

  • Can take on an analytical role where you are constantly monitoring suppliers to benchmark prices and ensure that competitive costs are maintained
  • Experience with developing and maintaining positive supplier relationships
  • Have been involved in New Product Development and launches.
  • Have maintained a supplier database (to include pricing, supplier details, contacts, renewal dates etc)
  • Ideally some SAP or good Excel experience.

The successful candidate need experience in retail or wholesale food buying ideally, plus a great work ethic and be able to work in a team as well as autonomously.

As above good negotiation skills are paramount plus supply management knowledge. New product development is key element of this role, so this exposure is crucial.
