Permanent. Monday to Friday, 9 - 5.30.

Hunters’ client is an award winning creative designer, distributor and manufacturer specializing in toys and gifts, hiring an experienced and professional retail buyer for their online operation. Working very closely with the online team a retail buyer helps to ensure the right products are selected to fit and develop the site.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven buying experience (preferably gift / homewares / trend.)
  • Good understanding of online sales model.
  • High level of IT skills with excel, photoshop, Linworks and have experience working with Navision or other ERM system.
  • Good understanding of QA and sales requirements for products.
  • Good understanding of margin, profit and commercial operations.
  • Have a technical understanding of novelty and homeware products.

The Buyer will be in charge of making key decisions throughout the buying process including:

Range Planning.

Analysing consumer buying patterns and predicting future trends.

Implementing the correct pricing strategy and structure across all ranges and categories.

Sourcing products, meeting and identifying the right suppliers in UK and Import.

Negotiating prices, discounts, quantities etc.

Ensuring the products are delivered on time.

Working with suppliers for images, videos etc.

Helping to interpret reports and predicting future sales.

Pitching ideas to senior management and the team.

Managing stock control and web availability.

Budgeting & forecasting.

Reacting to any changes in customer demand.

Maintaining relationships with existing suppliers while seeking new ones.

Attending trade events in UK and sometimes abroad (will involve nights away).

Understanding the basic rules of vendor management, allocation and price negotiation.

Managing critical paths and working with other departments.

Presenting ranges to senior management.

Training and mentoring junior staff.

Visiting exhibitions in UK and overseas when required.
