Procurement Specialist - Cheltenham - up to £25,500

Procurement function is a critical role and is key to manufacturing on time delivery, quality and ultimately customer satisfaction.

The Procurement Specialist is required to purchase materials, goods and services, to ensure manufacturing capability for uninterrupted supply.

The role will together with the leadership team create, maintain and continuously improve a coherent set of strategies and action plans to move the business to a 'best in class' model, and optimize Customer Service, Inventory, and Suppliers, to facilitate product Repairs, New build and New Product Introduction. This role is required to support the purchasing and administration needs of manufacturing but also the purchasing needs of engineering to support their new product development and general R&D work.

  • Procure supplies or vendor services for the best through the creation of purchase orders in compliance with SOX
  • Maintain the purchasing department in compliance with SOX
  • Working within an ERP and MRP system in a standardized pricing system
  • Creation of purchase orders using JDEdwards
  • Negotiating with vendors for best quality and lowest price with on time delivery
  • Maintain vendor/supplier relationships and accounts
  • Interact with personnel in other departments and disciplines.
  • Interact with and develop good relationships with outside vendors
  • Purchase for new projects for new product development and R&D work defined by the Engineering Manager
  • Generation of Reports and monitoring of open PO list and Metrics
  • Seek new vendor services and product suppliers and negotiate agreements with those suppliers in compliance with a standard pricing system
  • Implement procurement and planning strategies for cost reduction of purchases as set out in yearly goal by identifying/sourcing for appropriate alternatives together with end user(s), technical and quality personnel to ensure compliance to technical & quality specifications
  • Organise and support vendor audits with technical and quality audit team members as may be required and make recommendations to management for consideration as approved suppliers.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly reports on consumption of key/critical parts/tooling, including cost and inventory status for management review, and recommend improvements wherever necessary.
