Bonfire Recruitment are retained in the recruitment of a Procurement Manager for its well established and growing Manufacturing and Engineering organisation in the North East of Scotland, near Aberdeen.

Due to a period of sustained periodic growth the purpose of this significant role is to review and evolve the organisations buying processes and relationships to ensure best in class materials can be purchased in an efficient manner at a competitive price.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Negotiate and purchase all materials and consumables used within the local heavy engineering facilities to maintain efficient production levels within the company and maintain and manage the stock levels
  • Review customer and technical specifications relevant to the project scope to ensure the defined requirements are adhered to
  • Project manage and resolve any issues that differ from those previously expressed
  • Assess and select suitable suppliers and maintain an Approved Suppliers List
  • Maintain purchase order records to verify compliance requirements
  • Ensure adequate control on non-work order related purchases
  • Optimise company expenditure by appropriate selection of suppliers in the provision of materials or service at the appropriate values
  • Evaluate suppliers as per relevant SOPs

Preferred candidate:

  • At Least 5 years’ worth purchase management and procurement experience
  • Demonstrable Engineering, Manufacturing, Oil & Gas related purchasing / procurement experience.
  • Experience of managing reasonably high-volume numbers of orders with significant material value
  • Systems experience in Sage purchasing systems and modern purchasing systems
  • Pro-active approach
