Freight Procurement Manager

I am currently recruiting for a Freight Procurement Manager for a International Logistics company based in Tamworth.

I am looking for someone who has experience in multi modal transport operations (courier, road, air & sea) and freight forwarding with supervisory or management experience.

Role Purpose

• This is a key role working closely with Customers' Operations and GBS to secure the most suitable, cost effective method of operation and service provider for each country, region, lane and mode of transport

• Research alternative freight options to generate cost saving opportunities. Have ownership of the carrier strategy for the contract-Short, medium, long term objectives; feeding it and aligning to procurement activities

• Run different sourcing activities in line with account sourcing strategy. Negotiate with service providers to gain the most competitive rates whilst adhering to specific service requirements of the customer's operation.

• Implement contracts with providers in line with customer's contracts template

• Responsible for carriers contract negotiation ensuring all carriers recommended to the customer have agreed to the terms and conditions, with full contractual documentation set agreed, signed and recorded as per customer's agreed process

• Develop the carrier base, by selecting appropriate and compliant carriers, building long term partnership via effective carrier management. Measure carrier performance levels against agreed targets taking appropriate proactive action where necessary

• Pro-actively seek innovative solutions/methodologies of freight procurement delivering on contractual cost down commitments and delivery of the contract's future solution roadmap

• Continuously develop new service providers (carriers) to enrich the customer carriers portfolio, providing most cost effective and best service to the customer. Working with existing providers to further develop the relationship and continuously grow their opportunities. Understand carrier business strengths, weaknesses, capabilities and future opportunities

• Work closely with GBS Procurement team when running RFQs and transport buying activities, ensuring agreed deliverables are met - including any specific customer requirements, timelines and carriers communications

• Responsible for carriers contract negotiation ensuring all carriers recommended to the customer have agreed to the terms and conditions, with full contractual documentation set agreed, signed and recorded as per customer's agreed process. ensuring 100% compliance on contracts signed prior to start up and/or in line with customers' contractual agreement

• Support the business with the implementation of all aspects of PCM function within new contracts, ensuring smooth hand over to the operational team

• Ownership of the procurement relationship with the customer, ensuring clear communication, agreed processes and commercials

• Assurance that all carriers recommended for use and being used by the customer has a contractual agreement in place that is duly negotiated, signed and recorded

• Identify and develop new carriers for the account whilst maintaining service delivery and cost effectiveness

• Build and foster customer's cross business unit relationships to maximise freight procurement opportunities for the customer, LLP and wider business
