Senior Buyer | Prestigious Manufacturing organisation | Oxfordshire

I am delighted to be recruiting for a prestigious high-end manufacturing organisation in Oxfordshire who are looking to recruit a Senior Buyer. The company has a turnover of £20 million and has won awards for their manufacturing process. This role will be reporting directly into the Head of Procurement and you will have complete autonomy of all the global purchasing. This is a newly created role and therefore as the company grows so will your career.

This organisation has been in the manufacturing industry for over 30 years developing and creating outstanding luxury products whilst securing and maintaining big contracts with the military. They are a proud British manufacturer and are determined to play a pivotal role in the reinvigoration of the manufacturing on British shores. Their goal has always been to bring back as much of the process to the UK as possible and all of their designing, assembling and manufacturing happens in England.

You will be negotiating with existing suppliers from multiple continents and be expected to maintain strong relationships with them while saving costs. The company has grown year on year for the past 5 years and is looking for an innovative and versatile individual to grow with the company.

Key responsibilities include:

Your main role as Senior Buyer will be the purchasing of all direct components that go into the finished products including the packaging. Therefore, you will need experience in buying raw materials or direct goods. You will need to have good interpersonal skills, as this role engages with organisations across 3 different continents. You will also need good negotiating and supplier relationship skills. With the loom of ‘Brexit’ costs of importing components are almost certain to change. This means that, the candidate will have to be able to negotiate with existing suppliers to minimise potential costs without damaging the existing relationships. The timely and accurate delivery of these goods is essential for the supply chain.

What you will need to demonstrate:

• Must have circa 3 years experience in buying or purchasing raw materials (or direct goods) Strong negotiating skills
• Good supplier relationships skills
• Drive to learn and take on new responsibilities
• Demonstrable influencing and negotiation skills, working with key stakeholders including strategic suppliers
• Experience in manufacturing or packaging is a desirable
