Director of Business Development opportunity, with a World Leading Pharmaceutical Distribution Company. As part of their Global Procurement & Sourcing organization you will contribute to leveraging the enormous buying power of the company, to optimize spend across the company’s business units.

Recently the Global Procurement Team took on the broader responsibility and is now taking the lead in developing the generic category strategy across Europe and aligning with individual countries, to develop new ways of working to generate value for the enterprise. This is a critical role, in a renowned global company whose ethos is to fully reward all employees, for the important work they do.

As Director of Business Development Generics, you will be responsible for market analysis, industry trends, and developing a deep understanding of the strategic needs as it relates to generic pharmaceutical category management across Europe. In this key role, you will provide leadership in developing and implementing innovate business solutions to support generic category growth needs of individual business units, with focus on both up and down stream initiatives. Leveraging strategic and local manufacture partnerships, while optimizing the Company’s competitive position, you will maximize category profitability. Working cross-functionally across Europe, you will ensure initiatives are implemented, and look to identify opportunities for ongoing development that meet both the needs of the local business units as well as the global and local supplier partners. The position requires strong commercial acumen, client management, interpersonal and relationship management skills, as well as problem-solving and the ability to identify opportunities with focus on both procurement, supply chain and sales.
 

Director of Business Development Generics Key Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with both the procurement and commercial leaders across the you will support the annual European generics category management planning and budgeting process to establish strategic and tactical growth objectives, financial targets and critical milestones
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of local market priorities and support with process improvement, leverage insights, relationships and ideas to challenge current ways of working to identify new and innovative solutions to generate value
  • Develop an understanding of both global and local strategy supplier partners and gain a detailed insight into the markets in which they operate
  • In collaboration with the local procurement and commercial teams, co-ordinate the involvement of company personnel across multiple functions to meet the category performance objectives
  • Coordinate activities to meet assigned targets for growth and deliver on the strategic objectives set for all assigned markets
  • Work with the global procurement teams and business units to proactively assess, clarify and validate supplier, company’s internal and external customer needs, challenges, risks and opportunities on an ongoing basis
  • Facilitate solution development efforts that address supplier wants/needs and meet the organizations growth ambitions
  • Build an internal network of key contacts across multiple functions and business units to support with the development and delivery of strategic supplier projects
  • Work with the procurement leaders and data analytics team to ensure the organization develop and maintain a suite of supplier value-adding KPIs and manage the quarterly dashboard process
  • Coordinate all quarterly and annual local market business reviews, and any ad-hoc meetings with suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Align closely with the Director Global Generic Supplier Relationships to identify opportunities locally that will create central value and meet local market goals


Director of Business Development Generics Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience managing complex projects with senior level stakeholders
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple supplier relationships
  • Fact based, clear, logical communication skills with a track record of success in developing relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to complete environmental analysis and identify profitable growth opportunities
  • Excellent project management and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication, presentation, written and interpersonal skills
  • Educated to degree level
  • MBA preferred but not essential
  • Flexible for global travel mainly within the EU
